New TV Day

Aunt's TV now hooked up in apartment (she dropped it off this afternoon--and brought me coffee :). Went to Best Buy to purchase an adapter, and GameCube and DVD player are now hooked up to new TV. Good Times.

Did not attack kitchen yesterday. Undecided about attacking it today, though I find it doubtful.

I got up around 9:30--so uncool, as I would have gladly stayed in bed until, oh, 2pm--and played on the computer for most of the morning. I got lunch at Wings, then came back and wasted some more time... but around 3:30pm I dug in and did a good chunk of cleaning. With the exception of my desk--which is my next target--my bedroom doesn't look half bad. And I did some of the hallway, though I have a little to finish there, and most of the bathroom. The kitchen is, as always, my final target. Whether I'll reach it today--or this lifetime--or not, I'm not sure. But I'm feeling fairly accomplished. I even Swiffered, and really, how often does that happen?

I want to get the apartment into decent shape to a) have people over (if I can figure out the limited space issue), b) possibly get better cable tv (I can see myself caving sooner rather than later, even though I've held out for the last 9 months), and c) take pictures of it, so that people who haven't been here and who always ask how Boston is treating me will have a visual. And for posterity, of course.

Break time, dinner, then more cleaning. I could have this place in great shape by the time I go to bed if I stick with it. We'll see.

Edit, 7:14pm: Have made desk more reasonable than it has been since the week I moved in. Next step is hallway, then kitchen. May hold off until tomorrow.

New Year's Resolution, 2007

Every year I make a fake resolution--one I know will fall by the wayside within a month, usually by day three, if I bother to start it at all. Often that resolution is keeping a paper journal. I am notoriously bad at those.

This year, I thought I'd be a little smarter. I am reusing my "keep a journal" pseudo-resolution, but setting myself up with better odds of success by involving the computer. The goal is a daily entry, even if it's just the boring "I went to work and did XXXX, then came home and checked email and played GameCube." Occasionally they'll be more interesting, I hope. Naturally I don't really expect to pop in here daily--if nothing else, there will be days when I don't have 'net access--but if I can get a few times a week, this will be good practice for 2008 and another paper journal attempt.

Entries that heavily involve other people will be friends-locked or private to maintain their privacy, and so I don't have to think up pseudonyms for everyone I know. The boring entries will probably be open. This entry will stay open as an explanation and a reminder to myself.
